These services include:
- Aboriginal Program Office
The Aboriginal Program Office provides academic and cultural support to students with Aboriginal ancestry. The Aboriginal program manager assists with the promotion and coordination of events and workshops related to Aboriginal art and culture, and provides information on Aboriginal awards, scholarships and other funding sources.
- Academic Advising
Academic Advisors are here to support undergraduate students in achieving their academic goals. They are available to work with you to navigate your degree requirements; make an educational plan; help you resolve academic problems, conflicts and concerns; understand university policies; and let you know about resources available at Emily Carr.
- Accessibility Services
Accessibility Services provides accommodations to the learning environment for students with speech, hearing, visual, physical, mental health and neurological disabilities, as well as chronic health conditions and acquired brain injury. Accommodations may also be available for students who have a temporary disability.
- Career + Professional Development
Our Career + Professional Development office connects students with employers in the creative industries and assists them with strategies, skills, and pathways to employment and career development opportunities.
- Counselling + Wellness
The Counselling Office provides personal counselling and therapy to enrolled students. This is an opportunity for students to speak and be heard, in an effort to gain clarity, strengthen personal resources, develop new strategies and help build self-esteem. Counselling is free of charge and is strictly confidential.
- Graduate Student Coordinator
The Graduate Student Coordinator is here to support graduate students in achieving their academic goals and meeting all degree requirements, resolve academic problems and more. To make an appointment please contact email@example.com.
- Housing Website
Need help finding a place to live? Visit the Emily Carr housing website to find temporary or permanent accommodation, as well as useful information and resources.
A housing assistant will also be available to help you with your search from May to mid-September. You can contact the housing assistant at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Libby Leshgold Gallery is a public art gallery that features the work of professional artists. The Michael O’Brien Exhibition Commons and Media Galleries are adaptable exhibition spaces for student and University-oriented shows. There are two deadlines each year to submit exhibition proposals. This is a great opportunity to experience the rigours and rewards of public exhibition.
- Ron Burnett Library + Learning Commons
The Library provides access to a unique collection of diverse resources including books, journals, exhibition catalogues, electronic resources, slides and digital images, films, videos and DVDs, sound effects, artist books, the university archives, and a menu collection. These resources support curricular and research activities and maintains a focus on contemporary art, media, design.
- READ Bookstore
READ books is the Libby Leshgold Gallery’s bookshop. READ stocks Emily Carr course textbooks as well as a range of artists’ books, monographs, exhibition catalogues, critical theory, artists’ editions, and magazines.
- Students’ Union
The Students’ Union works to protect the rights of students while advocating for the interests of its members. Volunteers are always needed to lobby and campaign with the Students’ Union and Canadian Federation of Students (CFS). These efforts have proven effective in making changes and increasing awareness on a host of different issues affecting students.
- Technical Services
Technical Services is a wonderful team of technicians and specialists who will support you throughout your studies. Technical Services include the Audio/Visual department, skilled shop and studio technicians and a number of services including the Tool Crib.
- Tool Crib
The Tool Crib is located within the Sculpture department and offers a variety of tools for short-term loan and consumables to be purchased on campus at a reasonable rate.
- Writing Centre
The Writing Centre offers one-on-one appointments, writing groups, workshops and other programs for undergraduate and graduate students who would like to improve both their writing and their confidence in writing. We can help at every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and notetaking to helping you polish a final draft.
